On the first day of school in Egypt, a tragic accident killed a student and injured 15 others when part of the concrete railing of their school stairs collapsed yesterday, Sunday, as they were climbing to class. The accident happened at the Al-Mu’tamadiya Girls’ Preparatory School, part of the Kerdas Education Authority in Giza Province, at noon, after school “recessions” were over.

The Egyptian Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that a team of the prosecutor’s office went to the said school to inspect it and question its officials and witnesses, while another team went to discuss the body of the deceased girl at Imbaba General Hospital and question 15 injured women.

The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that, after finishing cleaning the school premises on Sunday morning, as the students climbed to class, they pushed the stairs leading to the top floor, causing the concrete stair railing to partially collapse. , hospital.

The statement indicated that the investigation is being completed, and the Egyptian prosecutor’s office will report on its details when it is completed and determine how and why the accident occurred.

After it became known about the death of a student, the Minister of Education of Egypt, Dr. Reda Hegazy, decided to involve the director of education, the director of the school and building inspectors in the investigation.

The Minister also instructed the School Building Authority to re-inspect all school buildings to ensure the safety of buildings in schools across the Republic.
