14 people have died in a Mexican Navy helicopter crash in the northwestern state of Sinaloa.
“The Black Hawk helicopter was involved in an accident, the cause of which is not yet known,” the Navy said in a statement. “There were 15 people on board the helicopter. Unfortunately, 14 of them have died, one person is being treated.”
The Navy said the plane crashed while on mission.
She stressed that the incident was not related to the operation, during which drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero was arrested in Sinaloa on Friday.
