17 people were killed and 4 others were injured in a traffic accident that occurred Tuesday evening on a deserted road in the province of Sohag south of Cairo.
Sohag Governor Major General Tariq al-Fiqi told Xinhua News Agency that a minibus collided with a vehicle on the western road of the Juhaina Desert, killing 17 people and injuring four others. Al-Fiqi said that the wounded and the bodies of the dead were taken to Sohag University Hospital.
Al-Fiqi instructed the executive bodies of the governorate to go to the scene, monitor the condition of the victims and promptly complete the procedures for transferring the dead to their families. During the investigation, investigators determined that the driver of the minibus was speeding while trying to avoid the vehicle in front, which led to a terrible accident.
