Colin Smith, Chief Executive Officer of FIFA Operations, confirmed during the Qatar 2022 World Cup operational prep press conference that nearly 3 million tickets have been sold so far.
“Nearly 3 million tickets have been sold and we encourage those who wish to buy tickets to take this step and all conditions have been created,” he said.
Saudi fans ranked third in terms of ticket purchases behind Qataris in first place and the United States in second place.
For his part, FIFA President Gianni Infantino expected 12,000 media professionals to attend the World Cup, Qatar is all set to welcome everyone to the World Cup.
The FIFA President stressed that Qatar will present the best World Cup in history.
He said: “The World Championship will be held in the Middle East for the first time and will host the Asian champion in the last edition. This World Cup will be unique in its level and we know that Qatar is ready to organize.”
