The Libyan parallel government led by Fathi Bashaga, worried by parliament and supported by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced that it had left the capital Tripoli yesterday after many hours of armed clashes that accompanied its arrival.

At dawn, Bashaga announced his entry into Tripoli, accompanied by members of his government late in the evening, so that in some parts of the capital there were armed clashes between the “Eighth Force” – an armed group in Tripoli that supports Bashaga – and a number of militias in western Libya and in the capital, where the Government of National Unity is based, led by Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, who refuses to give up power.

A parallel government statement said that “Prime Minister Fathi Bashaga and a number of members of his government left the capital after their arrival yesterday in the interests of the safety of citizens and the prevention of bloodshed.”

The government considered its departure from Tripoli “the fulfillment of its obligations to the Libyan people regarding the peaceful conduct of their work from the capital in accordance with the law.”

This came just hours after Bashaga announced his entry into Tripoli, accompanied by a number of members of his government.

“We arrived at the capital in peace and security,” he said in a press statement after arriving in Tripoli, referring to the “great reception from the people of the capital.”

He added: “Later we will give a word to the Libyan people, a comprehensive word, and that we, as a government, have come to reach out to all Libyans, whether they are supporters or opponents of us, to unite. .”

In turn, Issam Abu Zreba, the interior minister in Bashagi’s government, confirmed that the infiltration into the capital was peaceful and in accordance with the law.
