Lebanese social media pioneers have been spreading details of the tragedy that befell a Lebanese family, including their three children, since Saturday.
Specifically, the helicopter went missing on Thursday while it was on a domestic flight between two Italian cities with four Turkish businessmen and two Lebanese businessmen on board. After an intense search yesterday, Saturday, Italian authorities announced that they had found the wreckage of the helicopter and the bodies of those on board.
From the first minutes of the plane’s disappearance, the Lebanese exchanged the names of two Lebanese passengers, Shadi Kreidi and Tariq Tayah. Tarek Taya, 60, lost his wife, jewelry designer Halu Taya, mother of three children, young Tarek and two girls, Tamara and Tia Maria, in an explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020.
The Lebanese knew Tamara, especially when French President Emmanuel Macron visited Lebanon after the tragedy of the port explosion, where he met the girl while planting a cedar in memory of the explosion. The child gave him a “pin” with a map of Lebanon designed by her late mother. Many family friends were quick to express their grief over the tragedy that befell this family and re-shared the photo that Tamara posted on her Instagram page. The picture shows a little girl hugging her father, with the caption: “Dad, I love you so much. I really don’t know what I did to deserve this. Rest in peace, dad. I love you so much”.
Macron again rushed to console Tamara, as a message of condolences from President Tamara was published on the official Facebook page of the President of France, in which: “On September 1, 2020, I was in Beirut, I listened to many testimonies, but one thing strongly influenced me. This is Tamara’s testimony. The one that was robbed by the explosion of her mother’s most prized possession. The reason I remain motivated for Lebanon is Tamara and the hope she has, the hope of the Lebanese youth.” He continued: “In an accident in Italy, Tamara lost her father. I tell her that I share her pain and my thoughts with her in this terrible ordeal. More than ever, my heart is with her.” As for the second Lebanese to die in a helicopter crash, Shadi Kreidi, 47, is the father of four.
