A number of Scottish Celtic fans were keen on Sunday to ruin a moment of silence for the recently departed Queen Elizabeth II, so they raised slogans inciting hatred against the entire royal family.
According to the British newspaper The Metro, fans in the stands held up a written slogan that read: “If you hate the royal family, clap.”
In the same context, fans of the Scottish team Dundee United chanted slogans against the late Queen during a local league match against Rangers.
The UEFA European Football Association has taken action against the Celtic team because of slogans mocking the departure of Queen Elizabeth before the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk in Poland.
The slogans have been widely circulated on social platforms amid dissatisfaction with the lack of attention to the human moment associated with death.
Differences over politicians are understandable, said the dissatisfied, but this death inspired a certain awe.
English journalist Piers Morgan criticized what was published by the public, and sportscaster Ian Crocker was forced to apologize for what was published by the public.
“Sorry if you were hurt by what you heard, most people respected (the Queen) and some didn’t,” Crocker said.
