Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow had agreed to the appointment of Lynn Tracy as US Ambassador to Russia.
Earlier, the White House reported that US President Joe Biden nominated US State Department employee Lynn Tracy, who heads the US diplomatic mission in Armenia, for the post of ambassador to Russia.
“Yes, we agreed,” Ryabkov told reporters, noting that it is necessary to wait for his approval by the Senate. He said Moscow is serious about Washington’s signals of improving relations because “we will take the slightest sign of improvement, whether general signs or measures, seriously.”
However, according to him, the trend is still the opposite: a complete break in relations, reducing everything to zero, and this, according to the Russian diplomat, is one of the features of the present moment, which is generally characterized by instability and danger.
Lynn Tracy lived in Moscow from 1987 to 1990, has a bachelor’s degree in Soviet studies, speaks Russian and has worked in a number of former Soviet republics.
