A representative of the Russian diplomatic mission in Berlin confirmed that the embassy had not received notice of the detention of a Russian woman in connection with the case of preparing a coup d’état in Germany.
“So far, the Russian Embassy in Germany has not received a notification from the German side about the detention of a Russian citizen in the framework of the above case,” a representative of the mission told reporters.
And the representative of the embassy said that if a request is received from a Russian woman, the diplomatic mission will provide her with the necessary consular and legal support, within the framework of existing powers, adding that “the request will be sent to the German prosecutor’s office to clarify the circumstances of the accident.”
In this regard, the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office reported that among the detainees there is a Russian citizen as part of a major operation against alleged right-wing extremists who planned to stage a coup d’état in the country.
And he pointed out that the suspects were planning a coup, the formation of an interim military government and negotiations with a number of German states.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed that there was no reason to believe that Russian officials supported the coup plot.
Yesterday, the German magazine Der Spiegel reported, citing sources, that the German police carried out one of the largest operations in the country against alleged right-wing extremists who were planning to storm the Bundestag (parliament).
German police special forces operate simultaneously in eleven federal states, the magazine reports, adding that 25 men and women who either belonged to or supported a right-wing terrorist organization were arrested.
More than 130 homes, offices and other buildings were found to be searched or have already been searched as part of the operation.
