This is not new. Social networks are released regularly. Indeed, they are believed to be responsible for the deteriorating mental health of users, especially the youngest ones. Earlier this year, Seattle Public Schools, USA, filed a lawsuit against several tech. The list is long: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat are all names. Accounts must be provided…

Another complaint directed at the giants tech

Social networks are ubiquitous. It’s hard to escape… The grip of young users is such that US public school officials filed a complaint. In the latter they accuse the giants of tech, holding them accountable for the “harm they have caused to the social, emotional and mental health” of their students. Plaintiffs denounce the rise in suicides, suicide attempts, and mental health emergencies. For them, it can’t be a coincidence with using social media. No one is spared: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and even Google are being blamed for this “young American mental health crisis”. In the lawsuit, public school officials believe that the accused companies used “the psychology and neurophysiology of their users to get them to spend more and more time on their platforms.” Indeed, social media has a craze for making us scroll for too long, not only for some reason… on stays on these platforms, the more ads they can display… And the more money they make. A virtuous circle for them, a more vicious one for us. Especially for young users. In their defense, the accused companies allege that they have implemented place means of preserving the mental health of adolescents. This is especially the case for Facebook and Instagram, the social networks of the Meta group, as well as TikTok, owned by ByteDance. But is this really enough? Nothing less confident. It remains only to see the evolution of this complaint. We imagine that the giants will have to put main in a wallet to calm the ardor and show their authority …
