During the third week of January 2023, the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KSrelief) project to clear Yemeni lands cleared 1,045 mines laid by Houthi militias in various regions of Yemen, including 15 anti-personnel mines, 131 anti-tank mines and 896 unexploded ordnance, and 3 one explosive device. The Masam team cleared 62 anti-tank mines and 240 UXO in Aden Governorate and 14 UXO in the Katab area in Al-Dali Governorate. 70 unexploded ordnance in the Hayes area.
In Shabwa, the Masam team managed to clear one anti-personnel mine in the Raghwan area, two anti-personnel mines, 12 anti-tank mines, 6 unexploded ordnance and two explosive devices in the Ain area, and two anti-personnel mines. personnel mines in the Asilan region.
In Taiz governorate, the team also cleared 1 unexploded ordnance in Al-Waziya Agency, 11 anti-tank mines and 256 UXO in Al-Mokha Agency, 10 anti-personnel mines, 25 anti-tank mines, 309 unexploded ordnance. and one explosive device in the Dhubab area.
This brings the number of mines cleared since the beginning of January to 3,534, while the number of mines cleared since the start of the Masam project has reached 383,139, randomly planted by Houthi militias across Yemen to inflict more innocent victims among children, women and the elderly.
