Streaming giant Netflix has acquired Natalie Portman’s latest film “May-December” after it was shown for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie received a six-minute standing ovation from the audience.

Plot and Cast

The film follows Portman’s character Elizabeth, an actress who gets cast in a role about a woman who falls in love with a man 23 years younger than her and has a baby with him. The story gets a lot of media attention. Elizabeth then meets a couple named Gracie and Joe, played by Julianne Moore and Charles Melton respectively, who are inspired by a real-life couple. The film explores their relationship two decades after their story captured the nation’s attention.

Positive Reviews

The film has already received positive reviews, with Portman and Moore delivering strong performances. The tension between the characters rises as one wants to bring up the past while the other wants to bury it. The movie also features shades of light and darkness for female leads and a scene-stealing performance from Cory Michael Smith as Georgie, Gracie’s eldest son from her previous marriage.

Release Details

“May-December” will be released on Netflix and in cinemas, but no specific dates have been announced yet.
