The Palestinian Health Ministry and Israeli police said an 18-year-old Palestinian was killed on Saturday in clashes with Israeli forces in an occupied West Bank city bordering East Jerusalem.
A Palestinian ministry statement said Faiz Khaled Damdom died of serious injuries after being hit in the neck by “live bullets” from Israeli “occupation” fire in al-Eizariyah.
For their part, the Israeli border police said that the “riots” occurred during the operation in Al-Azaria.
In her statement, she added that the officers then “neutralized the attacker, who was wearing a Molotov cocktail and tried to throw it at the troops,” explaining that “he was neutralized by gunfire.”
It comes after a seven-year-old Palestinian child died Thursday under controversial circumstances during an Israeli operation in the southern West Bank, which has been occupied since 1967.
In addition, four Palestinians were killed on Wednesday during an Israeli operation in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank and in the ensuing clashes.
After a series of bloody attacks against Israelis since March, some of which were carried out by Palestinians in the northern West Bank, the Israeli army has stepped up its operations in the area. As a result, dozens of Palestinians were killed, including members of armed groups.
