The explosion occurred near the mosque where Gulbuddin Hekmatyar delivers a Friday sermon in the city of Kabul.
Local sources in Kabul say the explosion took place in a mosque in the Dar al-Aman district of Kabul’s sixth district.
An Islamic Party source said that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar survived the assassination attempt, killing the attackers and injuring two members of the party leader’s bodyguard.
Sources said the militants tried to break into Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s office after the explosion but were killed by his bodyguards. It is also reported that two of Hekmatyar’s bodyguards were wounded.
Various sources report that the bombing of the Al-Iman Mosque in Kabul, affiliated with the Islamic Party led by Afghan warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, killed two of the attackers and killed one of Hekmatyar’s bodyguards and wounded another.
She added that Hekmatyar preaches every Friday and leads worshipers in the same mosque. Lately, in his Friday sermons, he has called for a new elected government. He criticized some of the Taliban’s decisions and attacked Afghan politicians.
