Aberdeen waited just 19 minutes to sack manager Jim Goodwin after a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Hibernian to continue their poor performance in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday night. Saturday’s defeat was the final nail in his coffin. The players didn’t leave the dressing room until it was known that Godwin’s term had already expired after less than a year in charge.
In a statement on Aberdeen’s website, club chairman Dave Cormack said without embellishment: “I met Jim at the end of the game, he’s a gentleman, he came up and hugged me and said, ‘That wasn’t a good enough game.’ The World Cup is generally unacceptable and the form is very bad.
He added: I’m sorry for the fans, embarrassed, humiliated and shocked after the events of the week, that’s how the fans feel, and I can only apologize to them. Aberdeen are seventh in the league and have conceded 11 goals in their last two matches of the tournament.
