Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jaafar noted the importance of this project, which affects the daily life of a Sudanese citizen and at the same time reflects the desire of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the sister Republic of Sudan through a fund in various areas of development.
The project aims to implement 1,300 underground wells, as the first phase works begin today with the implementation of 500 of them, as the project contributes to the provision of about (120) thousand cubic meters per day to cover the needs of the population in drinking water, in addition to the development of water resources of the Sudanese rural remote areas from the Nile River and its branches, and groundwater is one of the most important sources in rural development as it will serve about (3) million Sudanese rural beneficiaries. , in addition to this, the project supports and promotes social and economic levels in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development and access to water and food security in Sudan.
It is noteworthy that this project has been carried out in the interests of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1975 AD. in support of development sectors in the sister Republic of the Sudan through the Saudi Development Fund as provided by the Kingdom, through the fund for the Republic of the Sudan (19) projects and development programs totaling more than $866 million, and for three grants provided by the Kingdom through the fund in the amount of 117 million dollars, and this is a continuation of the strong historical ties and close partnership between the two countries and two fraternal peoples.
