A photo of rally champion Yazid Al-Rajhi was circulated on Twitter with the “deported” Lebanese businessman, and its publishers said the latter had returned to the Kingdom to attend Al-Rajhi’s wedding, which took place on Saturday night.
Al-Raja’s name has become the most followed on social media since the wedding, which some activists have described as legendary.
Commenting on the photo, one user said: “Imagine that the system (…) announces someone’s crime (…) and prevents him from working, and after a while you find that this person is present and working.” He pointed out that Lebanese businessman Riad Sharkas was the one who arranged Al-Raja’s wedding. Another account asked: “What is the story of Riyad Sharkas and did he really return to Saudi Arabia?”
The response with clarification came from Yazid Al-Rajhi himself, who tweeted on Sunday: “Whoever (whoever) asks me about the circulated photo of me, this photo was taken in 2016 at the wedding of my sister Madavi (. . .) because many people think it was in my marriage yesterday (Saturday)”.
Riad Sharkas is a Lebanese citizen who owned a “party and event catering” company and worked there until the crime of his involvement in a commercial cover-up was solved in 2019, and he has since been ordered to be expelled. .
