The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) confirmed yesterday that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told his Turkish counterpart in a telephone conversation that he “strongly disagrees” with a new Turkish military operation in Syria and expressed concern about the escalation of tensions.
