An Iraqi officer was killed and two soldiers injured yesterday when an explosive device exploded in their vehicle as it crossed a road in a rural area north of Baghdad.
A security official told AFP on condition of anonymity that a roadside bomb killed an army captain and injured two soldiers in the Tarmiya area.
Notably, in 2017, Iraq declared a “victory” against the organization, but its elements are still active in rural and remote areas of the country, such as the Tarmiya region.
They take advantage of the area’s nature, teeming with orchards and palm trees, to hide and carry out sporadic attacks, often targeting security forces.
