Arab Youth Cup organization discusses preparations for “Quarter-final”

Today, the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Arab Cup Youth Teams held a meeting in the city of Abha in the presence of the Secretary General of the Arab Football Association, Dr. Raja Allah Al-Salami, and members of the committee.

Those present were familiarized with the reports received from the tournament committees on the group stage matches that ended yesterday.

Dr. Al-Salami thanked all members of the Committee and Sub-Committees for the success of the group stage matches in all technical, organizational, administrative and media aspects, as well as at the referee level, praising the referees for their good management of previous matches, as well as the stadium officials for their successful drainage of rainwater that has fallen during the group stage.

The meeting discussed preparations for the upcoming quarter-final and final rounds, as well as the preparation of all committees to ensure the continuity of successful work in the next stage, while the members of the committee expressed their satisfaction that during the previous matches, and were not disturbed by weather conditions and precipitation.

The Secretary General saw the advance of the qualified teams to the next stage as the culmination of the efforts of the players after exciting matches that left the issue of qualification until the last moment His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, President of the Arab Football Association, to provide all the comforts for all Arab teams participating in the tournament.

Yesterday ended the group stage of the Arab States Cup among youth teams under 20, which will be held from July 20 to August 6 with the participation of 18 teams. Points, followed by Mauritania with 3 points, then Iraq without points.

In the second group, the Jordan team topped the standings with 4 points from a win and a draw, while the Yemen team qualified with them within the best seconds with 3 points, while the UAE team was eliminated from the championship competition with one point.

The Algerian national team reached the third group, which achieved the full result, having won two victories and scoring 6 points, while the Libyan and Lebanese teams said goodbye to the tournament.

In Group D, Egypt won two victories, also scoring 6 points, and advanced to the next stage, after which Oman and Somalia finished second and third respectively.

Tunisia topped Group E with 6 points to advance to the quarter-finals, while Bahrain and Djibouti exited the tournament from the group stage.

As for the sixth and last group, Morocco and Palestine qualified for first and second respectively, with 6 points for Morocco and 3 points for Palestine, while Sudan was eliminated from the tournament.

Thus, the qualified teams to reach the quarterfinals are Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Palestine.
