The Saudi Arabian Paragliding Federation Shaheen has announced the selection of the city of Abha in the Asir region as the official headquarters of the federation, as the Asir Mountains represent the first place for paragliding and are characterized by high altitudes, including the highest peak in the Kingdom, 3015 meters above sea level.
The Federation is the official governing body for the practice of paragliding (unpowered) in the Kingdom. Its aim is to provide a suitable and attractive environment for paragliding enthusiasts and professionals, and to prepare a new generation of Saudi talent to compete in local competitions. and international competitions. This will also help to achieve the goal of developing a dynamic and dynamic society. In line with Vision 2030, increase the share of those involved in sports from 19% in 2020 to 40% by 2030.
Saudi Paragliding Federation Chairman Hussam al-Din Saleh Al Madani emphasized that the Asir region is the best and best place to create an affordable and attractive environment for paragliding, noting that the federation has begun to coordinate with international air sports federations to place the Kingdom to the global map of outstanding destinations for future events in all regions.
