The sales figures for Baldur’s Gate III have not been released yet, but it is clear that the game had a successful launch. Recently, over 875,000 players were simultaneously playing the game on Steam, and currently, there are close to 550,000 players according to SteamDB. This role-playing game, set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, offers numerous systems, a wide range of characters to discover, and an evolving story that depends on the choices made by players. Additionally, there are more than a dozen character classes, each with their own subclasses.

The collector’s edition includes a download code, a figurine depicting a Mind Flayer fighting with a Drow, an artbook, character sheets, a fabric map, a metal die, a key ring, stickers, a certificate, magic cards, digital content, and a certificate of authenticity. This special edition, limited to 25,000 copies, was priced at €259.99 for pre-order on both PC and PS5. Unfortunately, this lavish collector’s edition has been sold out for months. Interested buyers can register by email to be notified of any potential additional stock, but it is uncertain if more will be available. Given the game’s success and positive reception, the collector’s edition has become highly sought after.
A Collector’s Edition Targeted by Auction Sellers
Not surprisingly, unscrupulous sellers have taken advantage of the collector’s edition’s popularity by reselling pre-orders at exorbitant prices. It is important to note that these editions have not yet been shipped and will only be available starting from August 31. In other words, people are reselling collector’s editions that they don’t even possess. A quick search on eBay reveals astronomical prices.
Some listings show prices of €688 (excluding shipping costs), €1399, and €1152. Similar sales have also been found in the United States, with prices ranging from $1500 to $1975. At the moment, eBay has not taken action against these practices, which some may consider abusive. However, it is worth remembering that buyers are not obligated to accept these offers or raise the bidding. We strongly advise against giving in to these inflated prices, just as we recommended not purchasing PlayStation 5 consoles at exorbitant prices during stock shortages.
