In a press statement today, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stressed that this historic moment reaffirms the United States’ commitment to shared transatlantic security, noting that both parties support membership bids for Finland and Sweden.
Blinken expressed his country’s desire to quickly include them in the alliance, urging all members to complete the ratification process as soon as possible so that Finland and Sweden can join NATO.
