Today, the German, French and British governments condemned Iran’s recent moves to increase uranium enrichment to 60%.
The governments of the three countries made it clear in a joint statement issued on behalf of their foreign ministries that Iran’s decision to increase production is a cause for concern, a challenge to the global nonproliferation regime, and entails major proliferation risks that have no credible civilian justification.
The three European countries said in a statement that Iran’s actions are more worrisome as it stopped implementing all JCPOA-related transparency measures five months ago.
The statement reaffirmed that Iran is legally bound by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to fully comply with its safeguards agreement, indicating that it will continue to consult with international partners on the best ways to deal with Iran’s ongoing nuclear escalation.
