British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said today Tuesday that his country will support Poland if it chooses to supply Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets.
“We will support Poland’s decision if they want to supply the MiG-29 to Ukraine, but it should be their choice,” he told Sky News.
“Poland must understand that its choices will not only help Ukraine directly, which is a good thing, but also put countries like Russia or Belarus in the direct line of fire,” he said.
“This is also a really big responsibility for the Polish President and Minister of Defense,” said Wallace.
The statement came amid reports that the United States and Poland were discussing such a deal, in which the United States called on Poland to supply Soviet-era aircraft to Ukraine in exchange for US F-16 fighter jets.
