Activision Reveals Exciting Details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Season 5
Activision has provided a comprehensive rundown of what players can expect from the upcoming fifth season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.
Season 5 will begin on August 2 and include five brand-new maps, two new celebrity operators, an in-game reveal event for the subsequent Call of Duty game, and other content.
New Weapons
To begin, let’s discuss the various weaponry. At the beginning of Season 5, players will have access to two brand-new weapons, with an additional four available later.
- FR Avancer (Assault Rifle – Launch, Battle Pass)
- Carrack .300 (Sniper Rifle – Launch, Battle Pass)
- M13C (Assault Rifle – In-Season)
In addition, a new submachine gun and sidearm will be introduced during the season. As a finishing touch, a pickaxe will be added to the game as a new melee weapon.
New Maps
Two new core maps and two new Gunfight maps will be available to players when the game first releases.
- Punta Mar (Core, Launch) – “Get ready to infiltrate a brand-new map from Infinity Ward with Punta Mar, which is available for Core and Launch.” Las Almas, once a lively village on a hill overlooking a magnificent South American beach, has recently been forced to abandon a popular tourist attraction.
- Strike (Core and Launch) – “This version of Strike is how veterans are likely to remember it, albeit with some slight adjustments to make it fit in Modern Warfare II.”
- Lounge (Gunfight, Launch) – “No time to kick back and relax here: This compact map for Gunfight and other small-squad modes takes place in a high-scale, high-octane club.”
- Canal (Gunfight, Launch) – “Situated near Vondel, this new Gunfight map takes place in and around a brewery as well as a canal thoroughfare.”
There will also be one more core map called D.R.C. Zone 1 that will be released in the middle of the season.
“In Call of Duty: Warzone, Building 21 was home to many stunning and unforgettable moments. Activision has announced that the Modern Warfare II Multiplayer mode will soon have access to a new area close to a previously secret location. “You are about to enter a new Zone here on the research campus of the D.R.C.”
New Modes
The fifth season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will introduce a variety of brand-new game modes, beginning with Havoc and Big Capture the Flag.
According to the patch notes, “Havoc” is a brand-new Core Multiplayer mode inspired by traditional arena shooters’ gameplay and then further improved by the injection of a random selection of frenzy-inducing modifiers.
This mode does not include perk packages, killstreaks, or enhancements to the playing field. The modifiers take up their roles.
The game mode known as Big Capture the Flag is identical to the standard version; the only difference is that it takes place in a 20-on-20 contest.
In the middle of the season, the mode Faceoff will also be added to the game. Players can compete in modes like Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed on the smaller Gunfight maps. However, killstreaks will not be tracked in this mode.
Additionally, additional in-season varieties of Gunfight are being added, such as the Armored Gunfight, which is the same as the traditional Gunfight experience but with armor enabled. In addition to this, the mode also comes with the Gunfight Snipers and Gunfight Custom options.
New Operators
Nicki Minaj has been confirmed to be participating in the show’s fifth season as an operator, ending the speculation about her participation. As part of the game’s “50 Years of Hip Hop” celebration, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and 21 Savage will all be playable characters during the season.
In addition to the celebrity operators, six new standard operators will join the game around the middle of the current season.
Warzone Season 5 Updates
In Call of Duty Season 5, numerous changes will be made to the Warzone mode.
The game will add the MRAP and dirt bikes as playable vehicles. The players can find them spread around the area, although the MRAP will “not appear often.”
At launch, a new question named “Vondel Champion” will be accessible to players.
“Just like the Traditional Battle Royale Champion’s Quest for Al Mazrah, a squad that is on a winning streak — five in a row in Mini Battle Royale matches — will have the opportunity to take on the Champion’s Quest in Vondel,” writes Activision. “In this case, the Champion’s Quest will be for Vondel.”
According to Activision:
Even though the M.G.B. construction aspect of Vondel’s mission will be quite similar to that of Al Mazrah’s quest, there are a few significant distinctions between the two:
Before beginning any Champion’s Quest, you must ensure that you are in possession of all of the ingredients at all times and do not let any of them go. That prevents the possibility of putting something in the sea and retrieving it later. If an element is lost during the mission, it must be recovered before moving on.
Second, three brand-new elements, or elemental compounds, must be obtained to complete this quest. These are as follows:
- Gallium: Having Gallium in your possession has the same effect as being hit by a Snapshot Grenade on any close teammates who have previously held it.
- Deuterium: Any Operator will become fatigued as a result of this, which may result in them coughing if they attempt to run.
- Neptunium: This has the same effects as the Shock Stick and periodically electrocutes any close Operators as well as hay-wiring automobiles.
In the final step, Armored Royale and Fort Resurgence will be added to the game as part of the Season 5 Reloaded update.
