On the second anniversary of the horrific explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital on August 4, 2020, angry demonstrations erupted calling for an investigation into the port explosion that killed more than 200 people.

The people raised a symbolic coffin in memory of the victims of the explosion in the port of Beirut.

With hundreds of Lebanese celebrating the anniversary of the horrific explosion, more bunkers collapsed from sacks in the port of Beirut on Thursday afternoon.

Local media reported that four silos that had previously been separated from the rest of the cracked building collapsed.

An Al-Arabiya correspondent said that the northern part of the Beirut port bunkers is the most fragile.

This happened four days after the collapse of two garbage bins, absorbing, according to experts, the bulk of the explosion, thereby protecting the western part of the capital from destruction similar to that that befell its eastern part.

Two weeks ago, a fire broke out in the northern part of Al-Ahrat, the cause of which, according to authorities and experts, was the fermentation of grain stocks at high temperatures and humidity.

A few days ago, Lebanese authorities warned that the northern section, cracked by the explosion, was “at risk of collapsing,” AFP reported.

Notably, on August 4, 2020, a powerful explosion occurred in the port of Beirut, killing more than 200 people and injuring more than 6,500 people, causing significant damage to the port and a number of metropolitan areas.
