Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met yesterday in Doha during his first official visit in two years with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who received him upon arrival at the airport.
“The visit is due to the fraternal relations between the two countries and their two brotherly peoples,” the Emirates news agency reported. The visit of the UAE President took place at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, whose country hosts the World Cup.
Emirates National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan has visited Doha twice as part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to resolve regional disputes.
Bahrain and Qatar have not yet held bilateral talks, and Abu Dhabi, like Manama, has not appointed an envoy to Doha but has resumed relations regarding travel and trade between the UAE and Qatar.
