The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released CCTV footage of a murder suspect escaping from a courthouse during a Feb. 27 hearing. Eddie Villalobos, 28, was charged with stabbing and killing two people in April 2021.
The police explained that the jurors were resting outside the courtroom, so the defendant asked to go to the bathroom before breaking out of the grip of the security forces. Under Oregon law, all restraints on the suspect, such as handcuffs and leg irons, were removed while he was in the courtroom for his trial.
The search for the accused was carried out using drones, in addition to patrolling the streets, and residents of the area were asked to take refuge in their homes. After receiving a tip from a neighbor, officials said they found Villalobos hiding in an empty apartment.
