Several German media outlets reported on Friday that Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, who has accumulated mistakes during her tenure, has decided to step down from her post.
For its part, the newspaper “Süddeutsche Zeitung” reported that Lambrecht (57), a member of the Social Democratic Party, to which Chancellor Olaf Scholz belongs, will leave his post next week.
In turn, the NTV channel reported that a search is underway for a successor to the minister within the party.
Lambrecht has recently come under fire for her controversial comments about the war in Ukraine.
Image Lambrecht rocked an unfortunate holiday video in which she said she was grateful for all the “meetings” that allowed her to navigate the conflict in Ukraine.
In January 2022, he was criticized for announcing that he would send 5,000 helmets to Ukraine, which at the time was requesting heavy weapons to protect against a possible conflict with Russia.
According to a recent Civey poll of 5,000 people, 77% of Germans support her departure, while only 13% want her to stay.
