Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit welcomed the announcement by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces of the Eid al-Fitr ceasefire. Jamal Rushdie said in a statement yesterday, Friday, that the ceasefire agreement will provide an opportunity to restore calm, it will allow civilians to meet basic needs, open humanitarian corridors for the treatment of critical cases and allow hospitals to operate.
The spokesman referred to the humanitarian appeal that Abul Gheit made last Wednesday, in which he called on both sides of the conflict to cease fire during the days of Eid al-Adha.
