The French prime minister has ruled out the idea of scrapping a plan to raise the retirement age as unions prepare for another day of protests and strikes against the controversial measure today. Raising the minimum retirement age from the current 62 to 64 is part of a major reform package proposed by President Emmanuel Macron to balance France’s social security system financially. Elisabeth Born is an old politician and engineer, born in 1961 in Paris, studied at the Ecole Polytechnique and the School of Bridges. She was awarded the Order of National Merit as an officer and the Order of the Legion of Honor as a knight.
