English club Blackburn have called on their Muslim fans to pray Eid al-Adha at their stadium next Saturday.
The club, which plays in the British First Division, took to their official Twitter page, where they announced on Twitter: “The stadium will be ready to welcome the faithful on Eid. We are proud to announce that we will be opening the doors at (Ewood Park) to Muslims for Eid al-Adha prayers on Saturday, July 9th. And the Blackburn club previously opened the doors of its stadium on the last Eid al-Fitr, where Muslims living in the city performed a festive prayer inside their Ewood Park stadium.
The club announced in a statement that it will work to provide all services and there will be buses to transport the faithful, with around 3,000 worshipers expected to visit the stadium. The club confirmed they were proud to be the first club in the UK to do so. The announcement was welcomed by a large number of social media pioneers, on the other hand, some criticism was directed from the club’s supporters who objected to the opening of the stadium at a time when ticket prices have risen significantly. It is noteworthy that the English club was founded in 1875, and won the English Premier League 3 times, the last of which was in the 1994-1995 season.
