European countries announce arms shipments to Ukraine

A number of European countries announced today that they are supplying weapons to Ukraine against the background of the special military operation carried out by the Russian army in that country.

The Portuguese Defense Ministry said it would send weapons, grenades and military equipment to Ukraine.

“At the request of the Ukrainian authorities, Portugal will provide military equipment such as jackets, helmets, night vision goggles, grenades, various caliber ammunition, radio, analog transmitter and G3 automatic rifle,” the ministry said in a statement. via Twitter.

The Czech Republic said it had sent a shipment of arms by train to help Ukraine. “We are sending aid to the Ukrainian fighters. In the morning a shipment of weapons crossed the Czech-Polish border and continues on Ukrainian territory. We are loading another train,” the Czech armed forces said on Twitter.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Czech government agreed to transfer weapons and ammunition, including machine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles and pistols, to the Ukrainian armed forces in the amount of 188 million kronor (approximately $ 8.6 million).

The Lithuanian army announced that it has delivered the ammunition shipment prepared in Lithuania, by government decision, to Ukraine. “We conducted a successful logistics operation to deliver a large shipment of automatic weapons, ammunition and anti-aircraft vests to Ukraine,” the army command said on its website. Said.

Earlier today, Australia announced that it would supply weapons to Ukraine through NATO channels.
