The Tripartite Mechanism (African Union, Intergovernmental Organization on Development and the United Nations) and the Quartet (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America) issued a joint statement as follows: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America) welcome the announcement by the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces to extend the current ceasefire for another 72 hours and call for its full implementation.
We also welcome their willingness to engage in dialogue to achieve a permanent cessation of hostilities and ensure unhindered humanitarian access. This initial diplomatic phase will contribute to the final cessation of hostilities and the conclusion of humanitarian agreements, which will contribute to the development of the de-escalation plan outlined in the AU statement of 20 April. He was supported by the League of Arab States, the European Union, the Troika and other partners.
