Renard decided to call on player Nawaf Al-Abed to join the Falcons’ roster in place of Al Mawled, who was dropped as a precaution due to controversy surrounding his position in the doping crisis.
A statement released by the Saudi national team’s official Twitter account said: “Following the developments in the International Anti-Doping Committee (WADA) appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) case against player Fahd al-Maulid.”
The statement added: “Following an exchange of views with the Saudi Arabian Football Association’s legal department and the association’s lawyer, and accordingly as a precautionary measure, coach Herve Renard has decided to remove the player from the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar list. , and encourage player Nawaf Al-Abed to join the list.” In this regard, the team resumed training yesterday, Sunday, after the rest, which Renard gave the players for two days, after returning to Riyadh from Abu Dhabi, where Al Akhdar completed the third stage of the training program there.
Yesterday began the fourth and final phase of the World Cup preparation program in Qatar, which will include an important match against Croatia next Wednesday in Riyadh and will be the last experience for our team before leaving for Doha.
