A joint meeting between the Gulf Arab Cup Football Federation and the Iraqi Football Association discussed the final preparations for the twenty-fifth edition of the Gulf Cup “Gulf 25”, which will be held in the Iraqi city of Basra. , from January 6 to 19. The meeting was attended by Jassim Al-Rumaihi, Secretary General of the Gulf Arab Cup Federation, Ali Jabbar, First Vice President of the Iraqi Federation and Director of the Championship, Mohammed Nasser, Deputy Director of the Championship, as well as members of the Federation and joint committees in charge of “Zaliv 25”.
Ali Jabbar, Director of the Gulf 25 Championship, confirmed that all administrative, organizational, logistical and security arrangements for the organization of the 25th Championship have been completed at the proper level.
He added, “We are very confident in cooperating with the Gulf Arab Cup Federation for the success of the tournament in terms of organization, which indicates that the tournament has a lot of government support at the highest level, and this contributes to the degree of excellence in the show.” tournament at a level that everyone praises.
The matches of the tournament will begin with the opening match on January 6 between the teams of Iraq (host) and Oman in the first group competition at the Basra International Stadium.
The Al Mina Stadium will host the matches of the second group, which includes the teams of Qatar, the Emirates and Kuwait, as well as the current champion Bahrain.
And the 65,000 capacity Basra International Stadium will host the first group matches between Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
This is the second time that Iraq has hosted the Gulf Cup since the first in 1979 and the title of its fifth edition was won by the land owner and an Iraqi team led by the late coach Amo Baba, to whom Iraq is indebted for having won three titles, Iraq’s participation in the regional championship is popular and interest of the Two Banners in the Gulf region.
