French coach Didier Deschamps criticized Jules Condé for wearing a “chain” during France’s match against Poland.
The referee of the match did not notice that Condé was wearing the “chain” until more than 40 minutes had passed, during a clash that France decided with three goals per goal to face their English counterpart in the quarter-finals. Deschamps said after the match, “I don’t know why he did it, I told him you were lucky that I didn’t notice you were wearing it.” And he continued: I do not know its meaning, but I think that Conde believes in superstition, I saw him wear it in training, in any case, he has no right to do so.
He added: The referee told us that the players are not allowed to wear chains, bracelets or sunglasses, it is not allowed. He concluded: I thought he took it off, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
