On its official website, the German Foreign Ministry called on German citizens to refrain from traveling to Iran. The ministry has warned German citizens against traveling to Iran given the real risk of arbitrary arrest, interrogation and lengthy prison terms.
The German Foreign Ministry also warned that citizens with German and Iranian citizenship are at particular risk. According to the website, there have been many cases of arbitrary detention of foreign nationals in Iran lately.
The European Union imposed sanctions against Iran, accusing Tehran of helping Russia conduct a special operation in Ukraine. Earlier, Iran denied accusations of supplying weapons to Russia for military operations in Ukraine.
