GTA V: Ten Years of Success

Grand Theft Auto V has been a massive hit for the past decade. It offers players a vast open world, action-packed gameplay, memorable characters, stunning graphics, and countless secrets to discover. However, one of its most notable features is its online mode, which continues to attract hundreds of thousands of players. Rockstar, the game’s developer, has consistently provided new activities, vehicles, characters, and events to keep the online community engaged.

The game’s success has been so significant that resources originally meant for developing Red Dead Online have been redirected to support GTA V’s online mode. Over the course of ten years, the game has built a strong reputation, and its online world is filled with content created and promoted by Rockstar, as well as mods developed by the community. Additionally, various roleplay servers have gained immense popularity. Notably, the French streamers’ GTA RP, RPZ, garnered a substantial viewership and generated widespread reactions in 2021.

Rockstar: A Team of Roleplay-Related Developers for GTA VI?

Following in the footsteps of Bethesda, who have previously hired modders, Rockstar seems to be preparing for the future of RP servers. The studio has recently announced the integration of the Cfx.re team, responsible for developing the FiveM and RedM software. This software is highly popular among roleplay players as it allows them to create private servers and add scripts or mods to enhance their gameplay experience.

While many see this move as a recognition of the Cfx.re team’s ability and expertise, it also raises concerns for others. The recruitment of Cfx.re provides Rockstar with immediate know-how and an operational team. However, some players worry that this may limit the freedom enjoyed by the roleplay scene and modders. They fear that Take-Two and Rockstar might create new barriers that previously did not exist.

These concerns are likely related to the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is anticipated to launch in the fiscal year 2024-2025. Take-Two has already released previews hinting at a substantial revenue boost, which can only be achieved through the release of a massive production. Considering the leaks suggesting a connected world capable of evolving over time, it seems plausible that these recruitment efforts are in preparation for the next installment of the game.
