United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the signing of the Doha Peace Agreement by the Transitional Authorities and the military-political groups of Chad today in the capital of Qatar.
In a video message broadcast during the signing ceremony of the agreement, Guterres called it an important moment for the people of Chad and an important turning point in the history of Chad, expressing gratitude to the State of Qatar for holding the dialogue in Doha, which culminated in this agreement.
He stressed that the national dialogue would provide a historic opportunity to put Chad on the path to constitutional order and sustainable peace, and that the dialogue would be inclusive and reflect the diversity of Chad’s political and social life.
