UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that there is no military solution in Ethiopia, calling for the early resumption of negotiations for an effective and lasting political settlement.
At a press conference today, Guterres called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, including the withdrawal and disengagement of Eritrean military forces from Ethiopia.
He explained that the violence and destruction had reached alarming levels, noting that indiscriminate attacks had damaged vital infrastructure and limited access to vital services.
