The Organizing Committee of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2023 has announced the details of its logistical preparations less than 3 weeks before the start of the biggest test in the world of motorsport and the oldest rally on earth, which the Kingdom will host in its entirety for the fourth time. in a row, from December 31 to January 15, 2023.
The organizers of the Saudi Dakar Rally have disclosed the provision of human crews, distributed according to their specialization, and the work of these crews is based on the provision of logistics services to support the rally, such as medical services, capable of rapid response through an integrated set of devices and facilities, vehicles, services for accommodation and food.
The Kingdom strives to provide the best service at various levels in order to ensure the organizational success of the event and its honorable exit, corresponding to the status of the Kingdom, especially since the organization of such a global event requires huge efforts at various levels, especially in logistical aspects, involving more than 450 cars in various categories of a race exceeding 8,500 km, in the longest timed version of a special stage since 2014, with riders from over 68 different countries.
To fulfill the numerous tasks of the organizing teams and participants of the rally, a huge amount of equipment, logistics and media mechanisms, ambulance services were involved, and the organizers allocated 15 helicopters, of which 4 are intended for television broadcasts. and the rest to race management, hospitality, ambulance and medical staff.
In addition to air transport, a large convoy of buses and trucks is allocated for staging and others for overnight stays, including 32 overnight trucks, as well as 25 trucks for operations management and medical care, in addition to more than 89 four-wheel drive vehicles, of which 11 for medical services and 38 specially equipped for tracks, durable, it was made available to the organizers and management of the rally, and 40 cars to move between stages.
Based on the importance of nutrition as one of the main success factors of any event, especially the scale of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, the organizers aimed to provide complete nutritious meals in accordance with the best international standards, as more than 10,000 meals will be distributed daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner for over 3,500 campers.
The organizers also made sure to have medical support available for quick response in case of any emergency or health condition of any rally participant, as well as medical staff consisting of 51 doctors, nurses and physiotherapists, including a surgeon, 3 ambulance doctors. doctors and 10 physiotherapists, to ensure the safety of all those in the camp, which number more than 3500 people, and provide them with medical assistance if necessary.
The course of the 45th Saudi Dakar Rally consists of 14 stages and one preliminary, and the competition lasts more than 15 days. This year’s edition features new trails that will take participants from the shores of the Red Sea, through the sands of the Kingdom’s desert, to Dammam on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Ocean sand dunes in the Desert Desert, the route will pass Al-Ula, Hail, Dawadmi, Qiddiya, Harad, Empty quarter, Puck, Hofuf and Dammam.
The participants are scheduled to start arriving in the Kingdom on December 27th and 28th, with the preliminary stage and opening ceremony taking place on December 31st, before the start of the official competitions on January 2nd.
Notably, in January last year, the Kingdom hosted the Saudi Arabian Dakar Rally for the third time in a row, featuring a panel of the world’s most outstanding riders, with more than 1,000 participants representing 70 countries worldwide. , for 14 days on 12 stages, in which racers competed in 6 categories.
