Pakistani Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said yesterday that 16 rifles were found at the home of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore and added that a bomb factory was also found near Imran Khan’s home, Ari News reported. The Home Ministry indicated that “a bulletproof bunker was built at Imran Khan’s house” and stated that Khan’s house “was a no-go area and caused concern to the general public”, stressing that the Pakistani police had a warrant to search his house. and added, “Praise be to God.” Today, people threw stones at police officers who came to the area to clear the “restricted zone,” he continued, pointing out that the police did not enter the house because Imran Khan’s wife was there.
Yesterday, Pakistani police entered the home of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the eastern city of Lahore, coinciding with his departure to the capital Islamabad to stand trial.
After he left his home yesterday morning for Islamabad, pages associated with the Tehreek-e-Insaf party led by Imran Khan published scenes of his residence being stormed by the police in Lahore and the scenes showed that the police forces removed the tents set up in front of the building and destroyed a police car at its main gate, arresting several people in it.
Imran Khan announced earlier today that he will travel to Islamabad to stand trial despite knowing the government’s bad faith towards him and its attempts to arrest him.
Khan, who was removed from office last year in a vote of no confidence, faces several corruption charges, including embezzling government gifts from other countries.
