Today, Tuesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed his “sadness” and “condolences” at the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority in the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank in connection with the massacre of innocent Palestinians. died as a result of the escalation of violence over the past year.”

“Both Palestinians and Israelis are suffering from growing insecurity and growing fear in their homes, in their communities and places of worship,” he added.

“We believe it is important to take steps to de-escalate, stop violence, reduce tensions, and also try to create a basis for more positive actions in the future,” he added.

Blinken’s visit to Ramallah on Tuesday and to Israel, where he arrived on Monday, is long overdue and began on Sunday from Egypt. This is a turning point when the security situation between Palestinians and Israelis deteriorated sharply and suddenly a few days ago.

Violence between Palestinians and Israel has escalated, with the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli bullets since the beginning of this year in the West Bank and East Jerusalem occupied since 1967 rising to 35, including armed men, civilians and children, according to AFP data based on official sources on both sides.

And on Monday, Blinken said in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following their talks in West Jerusalem: “We urge all parties to take urgent steps to restore calm and defuse the escalation.”

“We want to make sure that there is an environment where we can hopefully at some point create the conditions to start restoring a sense of security for both Israelis and Palestinians,” he said.
