India’s new president, Draupadi Murmo, was sworn in today, becoming the first person from India’s indigenous ethnic group to take office. In a statement after taking the constitutional oath, Mormo said: My election is proof that the poor in this country can have dreams and make them come true.
It is noteworthy that the new President of India, Draupadi Murmo, became the second woman to hold the presidency of India.
