United Nations Middle East Peace Envoy Thor Winsland condemned the zero-range execution of a Palestinian youth by an Israeli soldier in the city of Hawara, south of Nablus, on Friday.
Wensland tweeted: “I was horrified by the killing of Palestinian youth Ammar Mufleh while fighting an Israeli soldier in the West Bank.” “Such incidents must be fully and promptly investigated and those responsible brought to justice,” he added.
In this context, the European Union has called for the investigation and accountability of civilian casualties in the West Bank. The union said in a tweet released by the Jerusalem office on Twitter that “Israeli forces have killed 10 Palestinians in the past 72 hours alone, in what appears to be an excessive use of lethal force.” The Union expressed deep concern about the escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, noting that 2022 is the bloodiest year since 2006.
The French Foreign Ministry statement expressed deep concern over the consequences of the numerous clashes that have taken place since November 29 last year in various parts of the West Bank, as a result of which 5 Palestinians were killed. According to the same statement, Paris also reaffirmed its commitment to respect for international humanitarian law in areas under Israeli occupation and the illegal nature of the settlements.
The city of Hawara (south of Nablus) – on Saturday morning – witnessed a general closure, mourning the soul of the martyr Ammar Mufleh (22), who was executed by an Israeli soldier yesterday, Friday, and the occupying forces still refuse to hand over his body.
And the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that an Israeli soldier executed a Palestinian youth with live bullets from zero distance south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. And the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the General Directorate of Civil Affairs had informed him of the death of a citizen after he was shot dead in Hawar by occupation forces.
The Palestinian President, Prime Minister and a number of Palestinian factions condemned the execution of a young Israeli soldier, Mufleh. The Palestinian President stated: “The cold-blooded execution of a young man, Ammar Hamdi Mufleh, by the Israeli occupation in the city of Hawara … is a heinous crime in the line of crimes that are committed daily against our people.”
She pointed out that continued international silence had led to the cold-blooded commission of such crimes. In turn, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said: “The place of criminal execution in Hawar reflects the organized terrorism practiced by the occupying soldiers, motivated by a faith based on murder, when they shoot at our sons to kill them.” Shtayeh added: “The soldiers’ feeling that their actions have no consequences encourages them to repeat their crimes.”
