Iranian Revolutionary Guards: Over 300 dead since riots began

Today, Tuesday, Iranian authorities announced, for the first time since protests over the death of a young woman, Mahsa Amini, after she was stopped by the vice police in Tehran, that more than 300 people have been killed during the riots in Tehran. country since mid-September.

“The death of this woman affected everyone in the country. I do not have the latest figures, but I believe that since this incident occurred, more than 300 martyrs, including children, have died in the country.”

According to Iranian authorities, the victims include dozens of security personnel who were killed in clashes with demonstrators or in killings.

The latest official figures are closest to the number of 416 people “killed in the crackdown in Iran” released by the Oslo-based Organization for Human Rights in Iran.

The organization reports that its results include victims of violence related to protests against the backdrop of the death of Amini and unrest in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan (southeast).

According to Iran’s judicial authorities, thousands of Iranians and about 40 foreigners have been arrested, and more than 2,000 people have been charged.

Human rights organizations based outside of Iran speak of more detainees.

Of the defendants, six were sentenced to death at first instance pending the Supreme Court’s decision on their fate on appeal.

Iranian judiciary website Mizan Online reported on Tuesday that a man linked to the demonstrations has begun trial and faces the death penalty.
