Supporters of Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr began to flock to Tahrir Square in downtown Baghdad to take part in demonstrations against the nomination of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as head of government.
According to images released by Iraqi media, the demonstrators arrived at the green zone gate after demolishing concrete barriers at the head of the Jumhuriya bridge in central Baghdad.
