A report prepared by a team of United Nations investigators states that ISIS used chemical weapons when it extended its influence into areas declared “the State of the Caliphate” and based on witness testimony “in connection with the use of chemical weapons in Iraq in accordance with the rule of the extremist organizations between 2014 and 2019.
UN experts confirmed evidence of the use of chemical weapons by the Islamic State during the period when it declared a “state of the caliphate” in the territories under its control in a report submitted to the UN Security Council on Monday.
The report of the United Nations Investigative Team on Accountability for Crimes Committed by the Organization refers to the “gathering of documentary, digital and witness evidence” related to the use of chemical weapons in Iraq in the “caliphate” of the organization between 2014 and 2019.
In their report, the experts concluded that the organization “manufactured and manufactured rockets, chemical mortars, chemical rocket-propelled munitions, chemical warheads, and improvised chemical explosive devices.”
The report highlights “ongoing health complications in Taza Khurmato residents, which include chronic illness, cancer, and reproductive health complications.”
